THE WORK I DO

I primarily work with development finance institutions, as well as project developers who are seeking support from such institutions, to ensure that projects satisfy international lenders’ requirements for the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services. In many cases, this entails compliance with IFC Performance Standard 6 and/or EBRD Performance Requirement 6 and associated policies. In my work, I seek to understand my clients’ needs, and apply my understanding of the scientific and policy state-of-the-art, to develop customized strategies and solutions to help my clients meet their objectives.

• Collision Risk Modeling (bird collisions at wind farms)

• Strategic advice on biodiversity matters to support renewable energy and powerline project development and financing

• Pre-construction biodiversity baseline surveys for renewable energy projects and powerlines: design, training, supervision

• Post-construction biodiversity impact surveys (e.g. bird/bat fatality surveys) for renewable energy and powerline projects:  design, training, supervision, and statistical fatality rate estimation

• Biodiversity technical support of due diligence reviews of renewable energy and powerline projects

• Technical review and evaluation of biodiversity related survey reports and management plans

• Preparation of Biodiversity Action Plans

• Development of biodiversity impact mitigation plans 

• Development of Biodiversity Adaptive Management Plans (including PBR analysis to determine fatality thresholds compatible with "No Net Loss" standard)

• Biodiversity risk screening to support early stages of renewable energy and powerline project siting and planning
