XENOPS ENVIRONMENTAL
Ecological Consulting Services of Caleb Gordon, Ph. D.

We are living at an exciting moment in human history, a moment in which the world is undergoing a rapid transition to an economy fueled by non-polluting energy sources. While this transition holds great promise for addressing the greatest environmental challenge of all-time, curtailing anthropogenic climate change, it has also raised significant new environmental challenges created by new kinds of power plants and the new infrastructure needed to support them. The primary focus of my work is to help developers, lenders, and governments understand and manage these challenges using the tools of science.

SERVICES
I provide expert technical advice on biodiversity matters related to renewable energy projects in emerging market countries. I work with development finance institutions, as well as project developers who are seeking support from such institutions, to ensure that projects satisfy international lenders’ requirements for the conservation of biodiversity and ecosystem services.
INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE
Most of my work is in emerging market countries. I am fluent in Spanish, and one focus of my international work has been in Latin America, where I have provided assistance in 13 different countries on over 35 wind energy projects, many of which were the first, or among the first wind energy projects within the country. I also have extensive experience in Eastern Europe and Asia.

BACKGROUND

I am broadly trained in bird biology with a specialization in migratory bird ecology and tropical ecology. Since entering the consulting field in 2008, I have focused on wildlife studies for applications in the energy sector, with a focus on interactions between biodiversity and energy infrastructure, working for a wide variety of clients in the private sector, government, and finance.
